DESCRIPTION
The Villa Medicea at Poggio Imperiale stands on the hills of Florence. Built in the 15th century, it has undergone numerous attempts at restructuring over time which have transformed its original fortress-like appearance into the present day neoclassical residence, which is connected to the city by the majestic monumental road that leads to Porta Romana. It has housed the Educandato Statale della Santissima Annunziata since 1864. The villa is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
