DESCRIPTION
The Tower of Pisa, famous because it leans, is the bell tower of the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Piazza dei Miracoli. Built between the 12th and 14th centuries, it is about 56 metres high with 8 floors and it is one of the symbols not only of Tuscany but also of the whole world. The inclination, which is about 4 degrees, is due to instability of the ground beneath it, which already took place in the first phases of its construction.
