DESCRIPTION
The Ponte Vecchio is the symbol of the city and one of the most famous bridges in the world, with three big segmental arches. A typical feature, which made it famous, is the passageway, alongside which there are two rows of artisan workshops, obtained from ancient porticoes. Giorgio Vasari made a crucial contribution to the current appearance of the bridge in the 16th century, when he built the Vasari Corridor above the workshops, connecting Palazzo Vecchio to the Medici family’s private residence, Palazzo Pitti.
