DESCRIPTION
The Spedale del Ceppo (“Del Ceppo” Hospital) Museum is located in the historic-monumental part of the former hospital complex. Founded in 1277, it was the city hospital until recently. It was home to an important school of surgery with an anatomical theater that is still visible today. The loggia, which reminds one of that of the Spedale degli Innocenti in Florence, has polychrome terracotta reliefs by the Della Robbia sculptors.
