DESCRIPTION
The Duomo of Grosseto, also known as the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, dates to the end of the 13th century. The present facade, in Romanesque style, is characterised by its double white-red colouring and Gothic shapes.
Inside, the cathedral is laid out on a Latin cross with three naves and houses an imposing marble baptismal font and sculpted frame around the Altar of the Madonna by Antonio Ghini. On the right hand wall, Gothic windows richly embellished by Benvenuto di Giovanni create evocative light play.
