DESCRIPTION
The Academy of Fine Arts is located in the centre of Florence and has been a public academy of art since 1784, located inside the former San Matteo Hospital. The building has a colannade with three glazed terracotta lunettes of Andrea della Robbia. Inside the complex, there is a cloister, covered by porticoes and a chapel (La Crocetta, meaning Little Cross) frescoed with Flight Into Egypt by Giovanni da San Giovanni. The Library of the Florentine Academy of Fine Arts is also located inside.
