DESCRIPTION
The Henraux Quarries are located in Mount Altissimo, a peak belonging to the Apuan Alps, which overlook the whole of Upper Versilia. Predominantly made up of marble of exquisite quality, a number of quarries can still be found on its slopes, including the famous Cervaiole Quarry, which was first used by Michelangelo Buonarroti in 1517 for its pure white marble.
