DESCRIPTION
The Temple is one of the masterpieces of Italian Renaissance architecture, built in the 16th century and designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Elder. The church has a Greek cross layout with a central dome and a semi-circular apse. The backdrop consists of a large marble reredos by Giannozzo and Lisandro di Pietro Albertini. In the centre of the reredos, there is a fresco attributed to the Master of Badia a Isola depicting the Madonna with Child and Saint Francis.
