DESCRIPTION
Viareggio is well-known for seaside tourism, as well as for shipbuilding. The area of greatest artistic value in the city, with buildings of architectural interest in Art Nouveau and Art Deco style, is the Passeggiata (promenade) and the Viali a mare, (sea avenues), where the papier-mâché floats of the famous Carnival pass by in a parade.
