DESCRIPTION
The Basilica of Santa Croce is one of the greatest achievements of Gothic architecture in Italy. It dates back to the thirteenth century and also contains a fourteenth century cloister, a museum and the Pazzi Chapel by Brunelleschi. It is divided into three naves and contains masterpieces like the Crucifix by Cimabue, the Last Supper by Taddeo Gaddi, frescoes by Giotto in the Peruzzi Chapel and in the Bardi Chapel. Inside the basilica, there are countless tombs of well-known personalities (Machiavelli, Galileo, Michelangelo, Foscolo and Rossini).
