Thriller Series with Cate Blanchett Sets October Premiere
Alfonso Cuarón is returning to the small screen with Disclaimer, a psychological thriller starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline. Apple TV+ released a preview of the seven-episode series and announced an Oct .11 premiere date. The first two episodes will drop simultaneously, followed by new episodes every Friday through Nov. 15, 2024.
Filming took place for four weeks between September and October 2022 in Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi, Pisa and Massa Carrara.
Synopsis
Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Renée Knight, “Disclaimer” follows acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett), who “built her reputation revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others.” Per the logline, “When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets. As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys both her own life and her relationships with her husband Robert (Sacha Baron Cohen) and their son Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee).”

“Disclaimer” also stars Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George and Hoyeon. The series is produced by Esperanto Filmoj and Anonymous Content. Cuarón executive produces alongside Esperanto Filmoj’s Gabriela Rodriguez and Anonymous Content’s David Levine, and Steve Golin. Author Knight is a co-executive producer.
Oscar winner Emmanuel Lubezki, who worked with Cuarón on “Gravity,” “Children of Men” and “Y Tu Mamá También,” serves as director of photography with Oscar nominee Bruno Delbonnel. The two are also EPs alongside Donald Sabourin and Carlos Morales. Oscar and Grammy winner Finneas O’Connell (“Barbie,” “No Time to Die”) is composing the score.
