DESCRIPTION
Datini Palace was the residence of the merchant Francesco Datini. Its construction dates back to the end of the 14th century and represents one of the best examples of a medieval mercantile palace, with decorations by important Florentine artists such as Agnolo Gaddi. Since 2009, the premises on the ground floor have been transformed into a museum, devoted to the story of the owner and of the welfare institution, the “Ceppo dei poveri di Prato”, to which the merchant bequeathed all of his possessions.
