DESCRIPTION
The Malgrate Malaspina Castle is a horseshoe-shaped medieval fortification located in Malgrate, a small hamlet in the municipality of Villafranca in Lunigiana. Perched on a hill, the Castle dominates the valley of the Bagnone river. Built by the Malaspina family, it has a cylindrical tower over 25 meters high and a wall with Guelph crenellations. Today it is owned by the Municipality.
